make the most of your mornings
It’s 7:05 and at any minute your students will arrive through the front door. How are you feeling at this moment? What do the first 20-30 minutes of your classroom’s morning look like? Is it complete chaos, or do your students arrive calm, focused and ready to go?
Most likely the answer is – it depends. Some days our students are eager and excited to start the day. On other days, getting all of our students to unpack their back packs, hang up their jackets, and settle into their desks feels like an impossible feat. Most days, it’s a mix of the two.
focus your students on today
Students arrive to the classroom with a range of emotions, and this is something that cannot be predicted or controlled. However, we can check in with our students, asking, “Do we feel ready for the day ahead?”
The morning is a precious time for you and your students, and a simple exercise called “Stand Up” can help you make the most of it by focusing and motivating your students to learn. Stand Up gets your students ready to go and makes sure they feel like they have what they need to go their furthest each day.
